DO JUSTICE
Biblical Basis for this Ministry as a people of God, we are called to do justice, to speak out for those with no voice, to be Christ to God’s people!
At Good Shepherd we seek to honor this call by:
Intentionally building awareness of justice issues.
Helping farmers in third world countries earn a sustainable living by promoting, purchasing and serving only Fair Trade Coffee at our Fellowship events.
Offering Fair Trade Products (coffee, tea, nuts, cocoa, and cranberries) for sale at cost.
Helping the congregation to become aware of what they can do, individually, to end hunger through Bread for the World and the ONE Campaign.
Hold annual (BFW) Offering of Letters events to write our Congressional leaders about the issues that affect the poor and hungry at home and abroad.
Hosting Bread for the World Offering of Letters Workshops at Good Shepherd.
Informing the congregation about the “One Campaign” and Millennium Development Goals and encouraging them to write or call their Congressional leaders to honor our commitments.
Informing the congregation about the partnership of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity.
Recruiting volunteers for Habitat for Humanity building projects.
Supporting Food for the Poor.
Bringing in speakers on justice issues.
